Visa Secure is a service that provides you with increased protection from potential fraud for online shopping. Together with participating retailers, Visa Secure provides Members with an additional layer of validation at the time of purchase that helps protect Members against unauthorised use of Reliance Bank Visa credit and debit cards.

For more information, go to Visa’s website.

Am I protected?

Yes, you are automatically protected. All you need to do is ensure you have a valid mobile number registered with Reliance Bank. When making online purchases, look out for the Visa Secure logo (as shown below) displayed on participating retailers’ website. If there is no Visa Secure logo, you can still continue to shop online, however the extra layer of protection won’t be provided via Visa Secure.

How does Visa Secure work?

As you make a purchase online, a “Payment Authentication” screen may appear shortly after you attempt to complete payment at checkout. This verification helps ensure the person using your card is you and protects you from potential fraud. To verify your identity, we will send you a One-Time Password (OTP) via SMS to your mobile number. You will be required to enter the OTP on the “Payment Authentication” screen and, if successful, will complete the authentication.

Please note: Members are encouraged to check their mobile number and email address are up to date to allow us to send their OTP.

For your convenience and protection, Visa Secure works behind the scenes so in most instances you won’t be interrupted when shopping online.

  Frequently Asked Questions

How are my online purchases secured with Visa?
Visa has developed a program that helps confirm your identity when you make an online purchase. There’s no need to download anything, install software, or register your account. During an online purchase from your desktop, mobile or other digital device, you may be guided through an extra check to verify your identity. This helps us ensure you are you and that you are getting the additional protection from online frauds. This is one way Reliance Bank and Visa have teamed up to secure your account(s).

What happens if I don’t receive the One-Time Password (OTP)?
If you have not received the OTP via SMS, it may possibly mean the mobile number stored with Reliance Bank might be different from your current mobile number. To update your mobile number, you can either do it via Internet Banking or give us a call on 13 24 40.
